The Green Revolution

Renewable Energy is the latest buzz word! I have been involved in the industry for 2 years. Not only is this one of the fastest growing industries in the world but it one of the most important revolutions the planet has ever seen. We have exploited our natural resources to the detriment of the entire planet.

My focus is solar energy. Not only is this great for the environment but it opens  a world of opportunity for the masses in Africa, and I am talking about in excess of 621 million people that currently live in the dark with no electricity whatsoever. Let take this another step, Africa is an emerging market place, with so many people living without any access to a major amenity it opens up an opportunity for trade and industry within the renewable energy sector. I am personally involved with a number of companies that are working hand in hand with governments and people on the ground to create employment opportunities that will see solar energy installations throughout Africa, and in effect light the dark continent up.

The average Solar Energy System will offset 178 tons of carbon dioxide over 30 years. That’s equivalent to:

  • Saving the amount of fuel it takes to drive 600 000KMs, which would get you around the equator about 15.7 times.
  • Planting 10 rugby fields full of trees.
  • Conserving so much water used in electricity production that it would fill 6.7 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
  • Eliminating the need to burn 80 000 kg of coal.

So when considering a move to solar energy, not only are you eliminating your own reliance from the national grid but you are helping the planet by decreasing our reliance on fossil fuels as well as helping to build up an industry that will bring real POWER to the PEOPLE.
